Located at the southern tip of the Baja California peninsula, Cabo San Lucas and San José del Cabo - known as Los Cabos - have a unique landscape created by the contrast between desert mountains, blue sea, and golden sand beaches. San José del Cabo (which is the county seat of Los Cabos) is 20 miles to the east of Cabo San Lucas.
At Land's End, the Arch "El Arco" - a natural rock formation at the juncture of the Sea of Cortez and the Pacific Ocean, has become a well-known landmark in Cabo San Lucas.
Cabo is in
the "dry" tropics, experiencing a desert climate, although
nearly surrounded by ocean. The nearby water moderates the
temperatures, contributing to sunny days with mild
temperatures and little rainfall (Cabo enjoys 360 sunny days
a year).

Los Cabos has become one of the top vacation destinations in Mexico. Cabo is a world-renowned destination for marlin sports fishing and is ideal for such water sports as scuba diving and snorkeling, because of the many fish species that abound in the bay. Golf is another major attraction, as every year the area hosts major golf tournaments that attract some of the world's best-known golf professionals. Additionally, Los Cabos is popular for its nightlife with an array of diverse restaurants, bars, and discotheques.

Whale watching (humpbacks) is best in February.
